according to michael

Mai-Li is a wonderful combination of hilarious, passionate, and thoughtfully loving. This was clear to me from our very first date. Since then I have been continually delighted by her personal passions, humor, and the original songs she performs for me. Whether we're enjoying a bike ride, spending quality time with the dogs, or sharing a pizza, Mai-Li is my perfect life and travel companion. I'm looking forward to spending our lives together, and so thankful that my Indian food moves got to her. She didn't even know it was a date!

On our first date, Michael was a total gentleman! He gingerly pushed Indian food with his thumb onto his fork, and asked if I enjoyed "grilled cucumber" AKA zucchini with shining earnestness. He charmed me immediately, and we spent nearly every day together soon after: kind of ridiculous! Michael has a brightness and enthusiasm to his nature that reveals a warm heart and sense of humor. I'm lucky to call him my partner of over 7 years, and am excited to create more memories and grow old together!

Is this a dry wedding? Heck no: this is a PARTY! There will be an open bar throughout the night. Please make safe transportation arrangements as needed.

Are kids welcome? Bring yer kids and have 'em bring their A-game! While we won’t necessarily have kid-specific activities, eats 'n' beats are fun for all ages.

What's the parking situation? Do I have to valet or meter park? There’s free self-parking at the venue for your ease and convenience.

What should I wear? Is this a black-tie event, or a shorts–and–t–shirt event? While it’s definitely not a formal event, our wedding is a special occasion: we want our guests to look good and feel good. Please wear clothing that is mindful of the weather, leaves plenty of room for food and drinks, and is comfortable for dancing the night away!

Do you have a gift registry? Your undivided attention, unconditional love, and unyielding support are gift enough

Is there an RSVP deadline? Kindly respond by August 19th, 2015. There's a form to do that here on this website (pssst: you scrolled passed it to read this). We have our fingers-crossed that you'll be there!

Your invites have a neat texture thing going on. How this happen? How it happen: our incredibly sweet and talented friend Lauren printed the cards and envelopes on her very own 1914 Chandler and Price Oldstyle letterpress. If you dig letterpress, check out her website! Phoenix Public Market and Frances, among other fine purveyors, carry her cards locally.

What's with the animals everywhere? We love our home state and the immense Mexican influence here, and are loosely tying in aspects of the food and culture into our wedding. The Otomí are an indigenous ethnic group in central Mexico, and are well-known for their incredible embroidered textiles of plants and animals — the source of our inspiration. Read more about Otomí textiles here.
